Sam Frampton, born and raised in Kula. Hawaiian, Blues, Folk, Funk, Reggae, and RnB influenced mixture of orginal music that can fit into many spaces. Sam grew up playing ukulele and singing, and majored in guitar performance in college, where he also took up piano and harmonica during a hand injury when he had to stop playing guitar. He gigged in Washington during college for 2 years in several bands, including a funk ensemble of other music majors called the "Gang of Wizards" that gained notarity in Olympia WA selling out several local venues. After grauating and finally recovering from his injury, Sam moved home for a period to start fresh with guitar and ukulele, returning to slack key and hawaiian styles and as he gained more movement weaving back in techniques and styles he loved in college. He's toured the mainland with a couple of his heroes, most notably "Max Ribner & 1st Language" as well as Big Island band "Lehua" (lead by Hope Medford and Elele Tiana), sharing bills with more heroes like Cas Haley, Mike Love, and Rising Appalachia. Sam's dream is to keep writing music from his heart that serves as reminders to himself and others of the subtle magic of life, while not shying away from the harship. He has spent this year mostly focuse on his own music hoping to bring his sensitive Hawaiiana feeling to the mainland, and also the innovations of music out in the world back home. He hopes to contribute to the growth of the music scene back in new directions while preserving the vital cultural roots.
