Ras Cas
Ras Cas (Christopher Castagne) is a Caribbean multi-instrumentalist on a mission, bringing a folksy singer-songwriter vibe with a tropical twist. Powered by his passion for people and nature, he performs originals and covers to inspire those seeking truth and justice, while promoting peace, love and joy. A versatile performer, he is currently lead vocalist and musician with two bands (Calypso band Mas' and Reggae band Kalolu) as well as performing solo with live instruments and/or backing tracks. His main instruments are the steelpan (sometimes called"steel drums"), guitar, Venezuelan cuatro and ukulele. His main genres to perform vocally are Reggae, Calypso, Soca and Parranda (Latin folk music fo Trinidad & Venezuela) as well as Son Cubano and other Latin genres. A competent singer in English and Spanish, he is currently expanding his repertoire to include some traditional Hawaiian songs in Olelo Hawaiʻi. Instrumentally, on the steelpan, he also regularly plays Jazz, R&B, Latin, Soul and Pop.
Ras Cas also blends all of these influences to create his own original expression called "Kaiflo". This fresh and fluid form fits perfectly within the ascendant “New Calypso” phenomenon currently sweeping across the Caribbean soundscape, with other similar acts (and personal friends) of his such as Muhammad Muwakil and Freetown Collective, Collis Duranty and Infinite Love, and Terrenaissance (of which he is a member) gaining recent global acclaim. He has performed in various Caribbean and South American territories as well as in California and Hawaii.
